Barnham went into this cup quarter final on the back of a 3 match winning streak including a 4-2 victory over todays openenets a couple of weeks ago . However with the freezing weather and bobbly pitch this wasn’t a classic game of football as trojans┬ástruggled a little with their usual passing game . The game started ok with both teams vying for possession in the middle of the park with very few clear cut chances , Worthing trying to use the pace of their frontmen by playing the ball over the top but Rhyss and Aaron at centre back kept them quiet with some good defending along with the full backs . It was this way that the deadlock was broken as a ball over top Luke seemed to have covered and played the ball back to Callum in goal only for his attempted clearance to rebound off one of their pacy strikers and fall kindly for his partner to put it into an empty net , Barnham responded well and had a couple of decent chances towards the end of the first half with both Bailey and Ellis going close but the half ended with Trojans one down.

The second half started well for Barnham as Daves team talk seemed to do the trick and they started to knock the ball around nicely getting it out wide onto the flanks and producing some dangerous crosses and a succession of corners . Some nice play down the left ended with Thomas hitting a great shot with rebounded off the bar to Fred whose goalbound shot was stopped by an outstretched arm and the referee pointed straight to the spot . Rather unusually trojans keep Callum came up and stroked the penalty into the bottom left hand corner for the Trojans equaliser . After that Barnham bossed the game and had chances go go into the lead from Fred Thomas and Ellis but just couldn’t get past the Worthing keeper and as always happens they would rue those misses . Worthing played another long ball over the top and had two on one and although Callum saved well the first chance , again someone was on hand to put away the rebound . With Barnham pushing for the equaliser they got caught again with the longball and this time the Worthing striker finished very well . It could have been larger scoreline but Worthing missed a late penalty

Overall not the Trojans best game but they did pass it around nicely at times and on another week the scoreline could have been very different .
